New Year is traditionally a time for resolutions, and ours this year is simple: to just keep bringing you great entertainment of all kinds so there’s something for everyone.  Julie is busy scheduling in lots of new shows for our new season and well into the 2nd half of the year as well.

This year is already shaping up to be really exciting, with a great selection of established companies bringing exciting new shows; the return of some old favourites; and a good sprinkling of some brand new faces to the Playhouse. Plus our usual programme of dance festivals, showcases, special events and the occasional more experimental production.

So whatever your taste in live entertainment, don’t forget to keep checking the website, our Facebook page, our Twitter feed, or even your good old postbox for more information on shows as we add them during the year.

If you think you have the chops, pratfalls & timing coupled with a desire to spend long evenings in a ridiculous variety of ridiculously bright dresses, then why not have a think about auditioning for the role of Dame. Experience is not necessary – if you think you’ve got what it takes – we’ll tell you! Have you got the D-Factor?

For some folk using non-scaling browsers, we are aware that this might mean that the whole list does not show on screen as it is actually running further out than the bottom of your browser window and so you might be missing some shows off the bottom.  This will improve as we knock shows off over the coming weeks, but for now, if you want to see the full list of upcoming Christmas shows, click on the actual ‘Whats On‘ title of that column, and that will give you a full scrollable list of all the shows coming up.

We’re sorry about that, and we know some of the newer browsers are ok (Chrome and Safari can be set to handle the list in a different way), but the best work-around for a couple of weeks while the list settles down is just to click on that ‘Whats On‘ title instead.

Nowadays, people take their holidays all year round and the seaside summer seasons and pier shows are sadly struggling to survive and have been greatly scaled back. However, town theatres also still pullback activities back as audiences can still tend to be a bit lower, and it’s always useful to have a few weeks in the year when you can get all those “i’ll get around to it when it’s quieter” jobs out of the way.

But fear not, as summer (such as it is/was!) starts to give way to autumn again, we’re gearing up for our vibrant and variety filled new season.  Keep watching the website in the next couple of weeks for details of lots of shows coming your way very soon.

If you look at some of the shows coming soon, you’ll see they have a clickable link in the global What’s On list, and that will take you to a show specific page that will give more details of the show, ticket prices and showtimes.

If a show doesn’t have that clickable link, it may be that we are still waiting for those details to be finalised.  Keep popping back to the What’s On page though, and we’ll keep it updated as regularly as possible. You could even bookmark it in your browser, drag a link to your desktop or set it as your homepage!
